We're hiring

We're building a market that doesn't fully exist yet.

The world needs to remove 10 billion tonnes of CO₂ a year by 2050. Today's capacity is nowhere near. That gap doesn't close with good intentions. It closes with market infrastructure, commercial architecture, and science that holds up under the most demanding scrutiny in the world.

What we do

Supercritical is a carbon removal marketplace. We source, create, and guarantee permanent supply for the world's most demanding buyers — and partner with the projects building the future of carbon removal.

We just helped close the largest biochar offtake in US history: 1 million tonnes over 10 years, signed with Microsoft. From early-stage project design to signed megatonne deal in half the typical time.

When the right supply doesn't exist on the market, we create it.

What the work is actually like

This is a company where a climate scientist and a deal lead are solving the same problem in the same room. Where Tuesday morning is stress-testing a delivery schedule against realistic throughput assumptions and Tuesday afternoon is a call with Microsoft's procurement team.

The work spans climate science, commercial structuring, legal architecture, and market strategy — often in the same conversation. We operate on both sides of the market: building portfolios for Fortune 500 buyers and co-developing projects from the ground up with early-stage suppliers.

~30 people and growing. Remote-first. UK-headquartered. Series A. Moving fast.

Our origin story

Supercritical was founded by Michelle You and Aaron Randall — the team behind Songkick (20M monthly users, $100M exit to Warner Music Group, backed by YC, Index, and Sequoia). They started Supercritical because carbon removal is the defining infrastructure challenge of the next three decades, and the market needed someone to actually build it.
